Not my personal favourite of Bergman’s work, however this film is truly captivating and deserves its praise. However, one thing I disliked was the portrayal of the woman as needy, however I shall put aside my “woke opinions” and excuse this, considering the time period it was set in. The exploration of the Professors’ memories made it seem like we were experiencing his life in a linear structure, and the while also learning about what turned his life into being a melancholy lonely old man.
