Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler

Nearly perfect. I think some of the stuff at the beginning could have been cut out, as it had nothing to do with the rest of the movie. This is a long film and it took me a couple sittings to get through it, but at no point was I bored or wishing it was over. Something great about watching long movies at home is that you can pause it and come back to it later, so film length never really bothers me unless it's not a good movie. This is anything but a bad movie. Consistently entertaining throughout its entire run. Lang was a master at his craft. This feels like it could have been made today if it had sound. It feels so surprisingly modern. I have been putting off watching this for some time because of the runtime in combination with it being silent. I'm glad I finally watched it. This is one hell of a movie and probably the best silent film I've ever seen. Rudolf Klein-Rogge is absolutely perfect as Dr. Mabuse. Some of the best acting I've seen from a silent film. I recommend any fan of cinema to watch this movie. This film was obviously so influential to more modern films and it is just so impressive in every way. There are some slower parts and the first act or so is a bit confusing and unnecessary, but overall this is a phenomenal film from Fritz Lang. I am very excited to watch the next Mabuse movie. 9/10
