A truly remarkable film in every sense, COG is pretty much flawless. It paints a dark reality, which many people live in, even till this day. Lil Dice is one of the best villains seen on screen, he’s so unlikable that you’re almost desperate for his death. A cold story told perfectly.

City of God wasn't really my cup of tea. I didn't particularly like the fast pace where so much happened at once. There were a few cool shots in the film, which originally comes from Brazil. The film's message is excellent: it says that violence is a cycle, so when someone who was very violent dies, it doesn't end there but starts all over again as new people are constantly drawn into that scene. Overall, City of God is solid; if you're into action and violent films, I can definitely recommend it.

What an incredible film! Went into this with no expectations and was completely stunned. Completely changed my perspective on what a war movie could be—funny and touching while still maintaining the horrifying aspects. And the editing? TIGHT. The part that surprised me most was probably how snappy it is while conserving a coherent non-linear story. Fantastic movie about the cycle of violence.
