The Mist

Um nevoeiro cobre uma cidade costeira que aprisiona parte dos moradores locais em um Wallmart local, lá dentro eles descobrem que o nevoeiro é o lar de criaturas terríveis e precisam sobreviver. Um filme de terror que é o puro suco das adaptações de Stephen King, abraçando bem a fantasia e o terror fisico de sua premissa. O longa também se fortalece em abordar um tema sobre como, muitas das vezes, o monstro de uma situação tensa é o próprio ser humano quando acuado e colocado em situações de tensão extrema. O longa tinha tudo para ser um filme muito melhor, porém as escolhas de direção e enquadramento, fotografia no geral, não utilizam das situações para criar momentos genuinamente memoráveis ou que apostam na tensão em si. No mais, o filme é um bom filme de terror que não tem medo de sua fantasia assumida.

Honestly, a really great Letterboxd description for a very average film. First got introduced to the idea of watching, on Twitter: Give me a film’s ending that shook you to your core. Lot of people put The Mist. Going to be more cautious about taking advice from people lol. I found myself thinking of different cool possibilities that this film could end on. The guy revealing that he did in fact know more than he let on about the Mist (former military or ex-CDC employee); the mist actually has enveloped the entire continental US; soon after they left the store got raided; or maybe they found a bunch of preppers who were expecting the worst. Listen, I don’t know, I’m no screenwriter, but this ending? Bleh. It was unclear how long they were hunkered down at the store before deciding to officially take their chances outside. Knowing they couldn’t refill their tank, what were they going for or looking for? I would expect at least a couple of weeks rather than a couple of days to go by. Why would you let this MAN lead you astray. Ugh, it was frustrating and stupid, not profound and sad. To end on a positive note: the kid’s acting was good towards the end.
