Pretty similar to the first in terms of quality, Venom 2 doesn’t really do much different to the first. Yet, Carnage is a very fun villain with a fantastic design and brilliant CGI. Woody Harrelson didn’t really work for me, there is a lot of cringe and the dynamic between Eddie and his ex is very strange. Despite all this, watching the Venom and Carnage fight was pretty enjoyable, it felt very well done and entertaining. Hopefully there will be a Venom 3 as, despite its flaws, this is a fun time.

Um alien bissexual carente e um repórter tapado e narcisista compõe um casal estranho, bizarro e nada saudável. Eu entendi porque esse filme é relacionado por alguns como uma versão atualizada de Brain Damage do Henenlotter e ver Venom 2 depois de Brain Damage deixa isso ainda mais específico. Não ironicamente, a violência de Brain Damage tornaria esse aqui um clássico Camp e vulgar instantaneamente, mas tirando isso temos um filme descarado, descompromissado e que só quer divertir. Seja pelas piadas ruins, pelo time cômico duvidoso ou pelo carisma da dupla principal. Venom: Tempo de Carnificina exala tesão e paixão. A relação de Shriek e Cletus é facilmente o melhor casal de uma mídia de Heróis desde Mary Jane e Peter Parker da trilogia do Sam Raimi, e eu falo isso sem medo de ser feliz. Divertido e engajante, por mais Venoms e menos Vingadores.

A graça que faz com que esses filmes do Venom sejam tão atrativos, no final das contas, está ligada a uma audácia em seguir a linha menos comercialmente viável, menos agradável ao fanboy implicante de história em quadrinhos e menos ainda ao sujeito que se apega a questões de roteiro tão superficiais quanto irrelevantes. Percebam: boa parte do desprezo a Tempo de Carnificina e ao anterior está em tudo aquilo que o mesmo recusa. A rejeição ao realismo, a sisudez, ao fanservice barato, a conexões esdrúxulas com futuros projetos de um universo conectado... Tempo de Carnificina é plenamente consciente de tudo que funcionou ao primeiro filme e aprimora suas virtudes ao máximo: das dinâmicas de Eddie e Venom até os trejeitos afetados dos antagonistas de Woody Harrelson e Naomi Harris, análogos a Bonnie e Clyde; o timing do humor, a frontalidade gráfica da ação, o descompromisso com agendas de mercado e a plena vontade de criar, de estabelecer esse universo sem vergonha nenhuma de ser ridicularizado ou diminuído por ser o mais brega e cartunesco imaginável. Além de tudo, uma ótima comédia romântica (queer) ambientada em São Francisco.

not as good as the first. still fun tho. you know any other movie would have had the female lead break up with her new good guy boyfriend to get back together with her lead character ex and im glad that didn't happen here. the one thing im not a fan of in this film is the psycho/evil lovers' trope (idk what you call it). i think i would have preferred it if it were evil siblings, evil besties, idk.
