To Die For

Nicole Kidman is excellent in this Sunset Boulevard inspired thriller. The story is about fame and the desire to achieve goals, which pushes the limits of our nature. Suzanne decent into desperation is clever, and the use of clapping vs shouting also shows how deranged she has become. The precursor to gone girl, I feel this is an excellent look at the highs and lows of fame.

To Die For

Fun flick, playing the meta up to the point I nearly thought we were gonna get a 180° camera pan to Gus Van Sant wagging a finger at me and going tsk tsk. Phoenix as a short-circuiting teen. Wayne Knight in his most 'just some guy' role I've ever seen. Cronenberg out of fucking nowhere. Kidman as The 21st Century.

To Die For

I've used this film while playing Cine2Nerdle, but had never actually watched it until today. Nicole Kidman is such a talented person and I'm embarrassed I've only started watching her films recently. Gorgeous, hilarious, versatile, etc., etc. I loved the nonlinear storytelling and the end was perfect. Really good movie!

To Die For

Kidman is phenomenal in this. Plus a Cronenberg cameo? It rules.

To Die For

“Suzanne used to say you’re not really anybody in America unless you're on TV.” I’m not sure if this felt painfully predictable due to it being ahead of its time and having future movie plots follow suit or because it just is predictable. I would still argue it doesn’t matter because It’s still an incredibly fun movie to watch. Gus Van Sant is a director that does not skimp out on style — and this movie had tons. For lack of a better comparison, it felt like Legally Blonde meets Nightcrawler — the dark and dingy aspects of media (which is also very Gone Girl)& the “Don’t tell me what I can’t do!” attitude. If the main character wasn’t a sociopath, I’d be rooting for her, but here we are. Darkly funny and seriously messed up, To Die Foris a great movie to spend a good 2 hours on. Also Joaquin Phoenix is fantastic in this.

To Die For

This silly ass film. Nicole Kidman’s role here was so interesting she’s just so obsessed with the media. I liked the colorful and satirical stetic here it was that overwhelming stupid it was fun along with the documentary to flashback film style. I thought this was pretty funny, Joaquin is funny as fuck idky. Unironically, this reminded me of my girl idk what that’s say but I don’t really wanna know. ‘You aren't really anybody in America if you're not on TV.’
