Just yesterday nominated for an Oscar; the Academy doesn't deserve much praise these days, but this film getting any kind of "major" recognition is well-deserved Many times Syrian individuals (whether you've come to know them throughout the documentary, or have just been introduced to them) are confronted with the same gripping fear of what's worse: to die in a tragic situation, or to escape it and live knowing you abandoned not just your home but people you care about, who were less fortunate and less able to escape? Heartbreaking. Utterly heartbreaking. For Sama is the documentary that people need to watch to truly see the state of Syria, and see the carnage that the Assad regime has created in the region. This intensely personal documentary shows struggles, but also hope for those living in Aleppo - it shows that despite the fight from the Assad regime, there are people who are willing to fight for their cause, and risk their lives to save others. For Sama truly is a stunning film, and am very glad that Kanopy is offering it for many people to watch who likely wouldn’t even know it exists.

"I want to be an architect so I can rebuild Aleppo." They bombed cities, took a lot of children's future, and killed thousand of people. Pure evil. However, looking to each smiles blossom from their faces in this kind of situation is the most beautiful things I ever saw in my entire life. Waad made this documentary for Sama, her daughter, but I think this movie belong to the world and all of the people who care and understand. Thank you for keep filming and documented this horrifying and heartbreaking event. May God give you and your family peace and happiness you never expect.

La guerra es dura y este documental es la visión desesperada de un pueblo que se niega a dejar sus tierras y todo por lo que a luchado toda su vida, para sama es una dedicatoria emotiva bajo la piel violenta y desgarradora de la guerra, lo duro que es entender la normalidad de la guerra es lo que mas resuena en este documental.
