Diary entries forMalmkrog
Malmkrog
Just as many others have said, Malmkrog seems like an endurance test - it consists of nearly three and a half hours of heavy dialogue that dissects various topics over the course of the film. This film truly is a dialogue driven film, with few segments and moments breaking away from conversation to give a bit of respite from these conversations. I can completely understand why people don’t enjoy this film, since it really is a film that isn’t meant to be enjoyed, but stimulate and spark conversation. Are the topics that are covered necessarily indiciative of a conversation that would be held today? No, but they still bring up interesting questions and different sides that let you think over what you believe. It is a tough film to get through at times, especially knowing that you’re stitting through nearly three and a half hours of philosophy, but once it gets going, it finds its footing and really becomes an interesting watch. Malmkrog has been one of my most anticipated films of the year, and I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to watch it, since it really is unlike anything else released this year. It’s the type of film that I know that I’m going to enjoy, even before starting the film, and certainly exceeded my expectations. One of the year’s strongest, if you’re willing to sit through all of it.
