Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

The finale wasn’t as mind-blowing as i hoped, but the emotional moments really hit and the action is still top-notch. tom cruise and the cast bring it, and fallout remains king, but this is a worthy send-off. Flaws included, but i’m still all in.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

As much as I did enjoy this, the franchise is starting to feel a bit samey and repetitive at this point. Sure, Tom Cruise is fantastic in this as he always is and it’s always fun to see him perform this amazing stunts, but the stakes almost feel low at this point. In this there is one major character death and it comes right at the start, I feel it’d of been a lot better to have this at the end, a great sacrifice to save the world forever, and as bad as this sounds more of the main cast should’ve died. Also, Greg Tarzan Davis‘s character is absolutely pointless in this, he does nothing and even has a line saying near the end where he says something along the lines of ‘I’ve done nothing’. No idea why he’s even in this to be honest but oh well. Some of the action sequences are fantastic but I think this is a great place to let the franchise rest. Let’s be honest though we’ll probably get another sequel in 2030.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Legacy mode [derogatory], Finally Reckoned with. In the last ten hours or so of impossible missions, that final villain incident with his plane is gonna' be the only image I take with me.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Mission: Redundant The Mission Impossible franchise has fallen so far that after nearly three hours of Final Reckoning, all we got were: dumb dialogues, a villain straight out of a Cartoon Network show, a bunch of completely unnecessary characters, and a bloated old man who still does impressive stunts — but looks painfully out of place on screen. The plot is empty, the pacing is off, and even the action — once the franchise’s greatest strength — feels recycled and emotionally weightless. It’s as if the filmmakers tried to force an epic conclusion without having anything meaningful to say. The only things worth mentioning are a couple of solid set pieces and an interesting soundtrack. But that’s nowhere near enough to save this overstuffed mess. In short: the worst entry in the entire franchise. A disappointing finale to what was once a legendary series.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

“Our lives are not defined by any one action. Our lives are the sum of our choices.” I am eternally grateful to exist at the same time as these films. What a cathartic ending to one of my favorite franchises of all time, truly the end of an era. Tom “I do all my own stunts” Cruise being the madman he is for the final time as Ethan Hunt was everything I was expecting it to be. I find it very difficult to understand why so many people felt let down by this? Sure, the first hour is a lot of exposition and flashbacks, but once it got going it was an immensely thrilling installment in the M:I universe. The submarine sequence is probably the most stressed out I’ve ever been watching any M:I film, and the plane stunts were super fun to watch. Hearing Luther’s voice on that final recording monologue brought tears streaming down my face, what a beautiful way to end it. I particularly love the message behind it that echoes one of Samwise Gamgee’s own sentiments from The Lord of the Rings; “There’s some good in this world, [Mr. Frodo], and it’s worth fighting for.” P.S. Fuck AI. This review will self destruct in 5 seconds… Mission: Impossible — Ranked (https://boxd.it/GvDrQ)
