modern day edgelords have nothing on the innovative rage-baiting done by french filmmakers in the 1930s, straight up killing kids, sexual assault orgies in remote castles featuring a jesus lookalike, kicking puppies, sucking toes, eating fingers (sexually), throwing members of the church out of windows, kicking blind people, random suicide.... like im sorry no matter what joke middle schoolers are sending to each-other in their discord dms thinking they are over the line or are engaging in a form of transgressive black comedy some fucked up french guy thought of it 100 years earlier and already made critics puke in the theater while watching it.
