Diary entries forThe Farewell
The Farewell
billi's relationships with her mother and nai nai as well as the setting of the story hit a little bit too close to home. if you still have your grandma around go give her the biggest hug, i wish i could give mine one especially after watching this movie.
The Farewell
being a chinese and watching this movie, it made me feel so happy to see all the traditions and cultures that i've grown up with. i relate to many things in the movie; the graveyard scene, and the conversations had in the movie. i wish i have the same relationship with my grandma like billie and her nainai, their relationship was so beautiful! watching them, made me want to go see my grandma and grandpa and just give them a big hug and cry.
The Farewell
"HA! HO!" Lies in everywhere but it's a good liar them said. Nonton ini jadi keinget film How to make millions before grandma dies (2024). Kurang lebih mirip ceritanya. Nai nai 🤝🏻 Amah
The Farewell
Family flicks are my jam, but this makes me apreciate more my grandma and my family.
The Farewell
The Farewellcertainly has struck a chord with me. In early April, my grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and less than two months later, passed away. The Farewellis an extremely personal journey into family, and what it can do to help, even in difficult situations. Emotions certainly are high as I write this, but it’s been a long time since a film touched me the way this one did. I am glad that this family had the chance to see everyone together, even if it’s under the guise of a lie. It fills me with joy, and sadness, as I was not fortunate enough to make one last visit, but ultimately leaves me feeling hopeful - hopeful that the bond of family will always keep me and my family together, even if we go years without seeing each other. Please go support this film, it’s a very important film for many people, including myself.
The Farewell
Unfortunately I can't really relate upon the grandmother's character however the whole tone is close home

The Farewell
❝I walked the path of life and I have to say, you will face with difficulties. But you have to have an open mind. Don't be like a bull hitting his horns all over the walls of the room. Life isn't just about what you do, it's more about how you do it.❞ 𐄁──── 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚.────𐄁 The Farewell is a beautifully heartfelt drama with themes of familial intimacy and simultaneous strangeness, while also dealing with the immigrant experience through the eyes of the main character Billi. It's surprisingly thought-provoking in the sense that it makes one appreciate the cultural differences on-screen as well as place oneself in this situation and wonder what the outcome may be. It's also interesting, especially as someone who moved to the UK when I was very young, to think about 'the disconnect between a place as preserved in your memories and its present state'; I don't speak my mother tongue very well, and I don't really talk to many of my relatives either, so going back to my ancestral country is always an odd combination of nostalgia and detachment/separation. Awkwafina's performance was excellent, and I also really liked Tzi Ma and Zhao Shu-zhen's acting too. From a technical point-of-view, I really can't fault the film at all; it's full of gorgeous compositions and bleak colour grading that threatens to overpower the joy in the scenes with Nai Nai, as well as hauntingly poignant soundtrack. However, I think the film is a bit too short, as it felt a tad rushed and the conflicting emotions and themes could've been explored in a bit more detail. On the whole, though, it's a solid film certainly worth giving a watch.
