Color Out of Space

C'est pas mal filmé et il y a plein de bonnes idées mais c'est trop long et ça part un peu trop dans tout les sens en général pour que ça soit agréable a suivre. J'aime bien quand même

Color Out of Space

Just going to get this out of the way real quick: Color Out Of Space is not for everybody, and is not better than Annihilation. But it will receive numerous comparisons to that film, it should be appreciated (even if that takes time to happen), it is better than Mandy, it is the prettiest Lovecraft body horror film in decades, and it might be my favorite Nicolas Cage film (for reasons beyond his performance) There is more than enough to love here: Cute alpacas. Cool creature effects. Incredible colors. Tommy Chong being paranoid for a reason this time Madeleine Arthur giving a surprisingly good performance (this is the first thing I've seen her in, so feel free to roast me in the comments if there's more where that came from to the point it really isn't That surprising) as the one person that thinks this situation is consistently ever worth escaping or trying to escape from Body horror that looks actually terrifying. I'll take any potshot I can at the 2011 The Thing because that fucking sucked and Richard Stanley pulled this off with a third the budget that had Cage hamming it up; and yes he hams it up well. This doesn't quite rival Wicker Man in that department, but when shit hits the fan and everything becomes surreal (and it gets this way nearly effortlessly despite gradually happening), he's adapted so quickly to it and become just as weird and energetic as everything else around him that you almost wonder when you started watching a different film because this certainly wasn't how it started off There's so much still I haven't even touched on, partly because I don't want to spoil anything, and partly because I want to watch this immediately again so I can re-experience it and re-confirm my thoughts before putting to paper. I won't exaggerate: the next time I watch Color Out Of Space will not be the last. I love this. It's not perfect, but what's done right is done pretty close to it, and there's a lot done right. And a lot of it I didn't expect! Whoever chose to give Richard Stanley $12mil: 1) please don't make it a fluke, and 2) please give him more if he'll continue to make projects like this

Color Out of Space

I was waiting to make the crack "Now THERE'S a horse of a different color" but it done r-u-n-n-o-f-t. Had an ok, super‐saturated time with this. I know the budget was teensy compared to your standard blockbuster, but there's a moment there when the ... mother/kid stuff hits that you get the feeling there's a mirror-world version that ditches the CG critters and tendrils for a relentless massing of fevered puppetry and prosthetic hell and its an all-timer.

Color Out of Space

Lovecraftian horror crafted for the modern age, Color Out of Space brings hypnotic visuals to Lovecraft’s distinct style of horror. As entertaining as it is discomforting, Color Out of Space transports you to an entirely new realm, with brilliant colors and equally brilliant practical effects. Even though Lovecraft himself was a very problematic person, his work still influences horror to this day, creating an entire subgenre of fantastic horror. I’d love to get my hands on a 4K copy of this film, as those brillaint colors would look so much better presented in the clearest format I can get my hands on.
