Satanic Panic

Have you ever been overwhelmed and underwhelmed simultaneously by something before? Because that's basically my experience with Satanic Panic In this Shudder exclusive release this week, the week everything went to hell, Hayley Griffith gives a fantastic starring performance (in her first Letterboxd film!) as a woman on her first day of her new delivery job who has her own experience with hell after a dipshit Satanist refuses to tip. With a glance at the cover, the trailer, the synopsis, or really any scene, you can tell Satanic Panic reminds you a lot of other films like The Babysitter or even Ready Or Not, both starring the absolutely-perfect Samara Weaving And that's to Satanic Panic's detriment because...Hayley Griffith is not as incredible as Samara Weaving, and this film is not as great, as fun, or as funny as either of those films. She's still incredible though, and this film is still pretty good, pretty fun, and pretty funny though! And there's something for every type of horror fan here. If you loved either of the Happy Death Day films (I loved both), you'll appreciate that the roommate of Jessica Rothe, Ruby Modine, has a lengthy, funny, and intriguing role as an ex-Satanist desperate for freedom from this life she never wanted despite being the daughter of the leader. If you appreciate Rob Zombie films, regular cast member Jeff Daniel Phillips has a somewhat-minor part to play. AJ Bowen's been in everything, this included. There's amusing kills. The film's even partially produced by Fangoria! Satanic Panic is a fun, barely-under-90-minute ride, that I hope more people decide to see now that it's widely available. I wish it had been more, but I'm pleasantly surprised with what it was able to provide nonetheless

Satanic Panic

Satanic Panic is a gory and campy horror film, which made it so much fun to watch. It’s absurd at times, but that’s what gives the film its charm. Satanic Panic has a perfect balance of horror and humor, which is surprisingly difficult to do correctly and have it be an effective horror film, yet they managed to do it flawlessly here. Yeah, the film has problems with dialogue and plot at times, but I had so much fun watching the film, so I’m willing to let some of that go for the sake of a good time. Overall, Satanic Panic is a solid comedy-horror, and one that I’d recommend to any horror fan, as it really is a fun horror film.
