Child's Play

I went in still expecting Cult and Curse to be better recent films in the franchise. That was pretty much the only expectation of mine that wasn't blown to bits here. A Lot better than it should have been? My biggest complaint was the doll looked dumb throughout (the bear version of it was cute though) and it really didn't need the sidenote of being activated by a suicidal underappreciated overworked Chinese factory laborer because what the fuck Hamill was surprisingly fun as the new voice, because he didn't really seem like he was trying to imitate Dourif (which would have been the easier thing to attempt). The use of humor here was great, it didn't rely a lot on unnecessary jump scares, and it was perfectly paced at 90 minutes exactly, the sweet spot of film lengths in my opinion Mancini's/Dourif's is still the series I'm most looking forward to, but if this remake spinoff is going to continue because the studio is creatively bankrupt and doesn't mind two versions going on at the same time, I'm not against it if the result is still this good

Child's Play

Well, well, well. What a surprise Child's Play was. The original film didn't leave a mark on my for horror, offering more laughs than scares, but still maintained to be entertaining. This incantation of Child's Play offers what the original did not - actual scares. It's certainly a modern film, with a twist on the tale that was actually fresh, giving birth to an entirely new generation of terrifying dolls. Gore is abundant, the comedy is toned down, but still present, and the film overall is simply fun. I went in hesitant, but came out pleasantly surprised, and cannot wait to see what else they do with this series.

Child's Play

Child's Play

I am very surprised. I was expecting this to be bad but it was actually the opposite. I like the new chucky being a robot instead of possessed. I honestly wish there was more after this film. Mark Hamill is great as Chucky. Aubrey Plaza looks way too young for them to make me believe she is Andy's mom lol. The design for robot chucky isn't that bad this is honestly his creepiest look. Also this version for most of the film is just trying to protect Andy which was interesting. I'm glad they went for something different in this reboot cause I enjoyed it. Here is my Childs Play/Chucky Ranked (https://boxd.it/ouZGO) list I'll probably watch the chucky TV show at some point which will be on my serialized in bio

Child's Play

❝I was broken, Andy. I couldn't make you smile. But I'm all better now. I know how to make you happy now. Maybe you don't want to be happy. Maybe *you're* broken too! Maybe we should open you up... and see what we're dealing with!❞ 𐄁─────⋆⁺‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧⁺⋆─────𐄁 I've only seen the original Child's Play once, and that was a very long time ago, so I went into the 2019 remake fairly blind. And while it wasn't horrible, it wasn't great, either. I think one of the biggest issues lies in me: I just don't find Chucky scary, because I think I could defeat a doll very easily. The jumpscares were unfortunately kinda predictable, but the death scenes were pretty cool. Another issue I had was that the characters (except Detective Mike) were so annoying I didn't really want to root for their survival. Maybe I'd feel differently if I watched this with other people, because the shared tension would create a spooky atmosphere, but overall this was a bit of a letdown.

Child's Play

I saw this in the theater a few weeks ago, and I had a blast with it, admittedly. I liked the fact that they made Chucky kind of like a smart home thing, like Amazon Echo, instead of just making it a shot for shot remake of the original movie. It has some fun kills and some cheesy one-liners that are reminiscent of an 80s slasher film. If you’re looking for something new and original, you won’t find it here. But if you just want a cheesy horror film with gruesome kills, then I recommend this movie.
