4.25, might increase in the future [Watched the 1 hr 41 minutes version on YouTube cuz I couldn’t find the 1 hr 46 minutes version which I now hope is made available via a new restoration in the future] Love the aesthetic; the exaggerated eye make up is everything to me. reminded me of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? a little, which is one of my favs. Morgiana is well-made, truly a fun time, highly recommend it. the ending… wow! didn’t see that coming! I kind of feel bad about one person’s fate, I know I shouldn’t cuz of the things that she was up to but we spent so much time with her that I still kinda do feel bad for her. the villains are compelling! (that too without making the protagonist / good sister boring) the blackmailer is kind of iconic, lowkey. also this film has cat pov! And now I will be saying ‘Morgiana’ in that voice at random times

“𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴…𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦.” Girl revenge goes hardcore in this evil gothic tale of envy. Poison. Lace and frills. Heavy eyeliner. It has come to my attention that both Iva plays BOTH Klára and Viktoria with such distinct performances that I totally thought they were two different people. Aesthetics run the film to propel plot, and there’s a lot to like in this psycho-thriller. Though predictable in moments, there’s a flurry of fun edits and stylistic choices here with strong performances that make this such a romp! Highly underwatched. “𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘺.”

É Raquel e Ruth da Tchecoslováquia. Dentre os filmes tchecos que vi — não digo czech new wave porque acredito que não faça parte — foi o mais fraco, um pouco perdido em si mesmo. Ainda assim, a característica dos filmes tchecos de usar os efeitos para ajudar no enredo esteve presente e foi muito bem feito. O uso da cor para representar alucinações. De toda forma, mais um bom filme do país.
