Take the world. The evil Superman storyline is a fantastic idea, but it's a relatively oversaturated concept nowadays. Homelander, Omiman, and Tighten manage to stick out because they genuinely do something incredibly unique with their character and the story its a part of. Brightburn promised a DC What If? where Clark is aware of his powers and evil before he's even a teen, and if they ran with that and the horror genre, it could've been great. Yet with such a fantastic idea (as well as James Gunn as a producer), it felt pretty forgettable by the end. Elizabeth Banks felt like the only person genuinely interested in what was going on, David Denman seemed constantly bored out of his mind, and Jackson Dunn came off as a bland "protagonist", and as a whole, I couldn't find myself interested in this story, no matter how much I tried. An evil Superman horror movie should be good, but Brightburn still fell short of it. While some of the thrills do work, especially as the movie approaches the end, it feels like a huge missed opportunity.

The mask was awesome, childish, and creepy. The violence was pretty cool. The story was very basic and some of the possible interpretations were disgustingly xenophobic.

"I want to be good" - both the kid to his mom Elizabeth Banks, and the film itself to the audience. Alas, it's all doomed regardless

"Smart kids end up ruling the planet." my type of superhero movie.
Brightburn
Brightburn turns the Superman lore on its head, offering a more sinister alternate super villain alter ego. While the concept is interesting, a vast majority of the characters aren’t interesting enough to keep the film entertaining. This clocks in at 96 minutes, but feels like an eternity longer. Elizabeth Banks is a good actress, but feels out of place here, with her having to take a majority of the acting load, which ended up being too much of a feat in the end. While the film may be shocking and surprisingly gory, Brightburnonly partially worked for me, and would have been more effective as a shorter film, rather than a feature length film.

Poderia ser melhor.

him turning evil because the little girl was nice to him once but didn't like him back is so funny to me
Brightburn
Pros: cool kills, cool concept Cons: story, acting, editing, VFX, end credits song, literally everything else
