Would love to see Downey & Black reunite for something smaller like this. Such a fun film. Downey & Kilmer have such great chemistry together. Kilmer as the smarmy smart detective is possibly my favorite performance of his. If you managed to watch this movie in 2005 and notfall in love with Michelle Monaghan, I truly cannot understand you.

Couldn’t finish this one. The winking, painfully ironic tone and the whole RDJ schtick never works for me. It plays like an early precursor of a now-familiar specific type of filmmaking I’ve never liked—smirky, smarmy, and self-conscious. Maybe that’s the point; either way, I bounced. Not for me. Bleh.
