Dial M for Murder is a gripping thriller with a clever plot and precise direction by Hitchcock. The tension steadily mounts, and the confined setting makes every detail count. Overall, Dial M for Murder is a stylish, well-executed crime thriller that remains a prime example of the genre. It's not Hitchcock's best film, but it's still a very good one.

Uma masterclass quase perfeita de manipulação e gaslighting. Estava à espera de um filme intrigante e de que fosse gostar. Mas não esperava que fosse gostar assim tanto. Uma narrativa construída de forma praticamente exímia, com uma minuciosa atenção ao detalhe. E uma constante atmosfera de suspense à medida que a história se desenrola, o que torna impossível sequer piscar os olhos durante um único momento. Incrível.

Despite the film’s use of a single location, Dial M for Murdermanages to deliver some real, honest to goodness thrills - not that I was expecting less from none other thanAlfred Hitchcock. While the plot itself is intriguing enough, Tony (Ray Milland) plans an elaborate way to murder his wife (Grace Kelly), the presentation on display is simply pitch-perfect on so many levels. I think my favorite aspect of the film is how Tony’s master plan is told with such conviction, as if he’s fully aware there is no possible way anything can go awry, which is quickly undercut by the it going absolutely tits-up. The blocking here is sublime as well, especially in how Hitchcock frames the shot using stark, elongated shadows during the crime. I haven’t seen too much Hitchcock unfortunately, but what I have seen has been nothing but stellar.
