I love a good horror film where you don't know who's gonna survive and a lot of Republicans die. Big reason the Saw and Final Destination franchises are among my favs/most rewatched

for a movie called The Hunt there wasn't as much hunting as i though there would be. i think this is decent political satire > > > > SPOILER: also emma roberts, justin hartley, and ike barinholtz died in the first 20 minutes so that was unexpected

Films like The Hunt walk on a very tight rope - they have to carefully work with their material without going too far or else it completely fails. This happens a lot when it comes to political satires, pushing too far into one direction, leaving the film to show it’s bias. The Hunt manages to walk on that tightrope perfectly, capturing both sides of American politics to a tee, allowing there to be discussions about both sides of politics, rather than swaying primarily toward one. After a few minutes of watching the film, I knew what it was going for, and had such a good time with it once it got going. I caught myself grinning throughout, seeing critical critiques of progressives and conservatives alike. It did what it needed to, and managed to keep itself at a crisp hour and a half runtime. It’s a shame that I wasn’t able to catch this film while it was briefly in theaters, since I would have had a blast seeing how audiences reacted to it. Understandably, people are going to have a problem with this film, as the subject manner is pretty touchy (as seen in 45’s tweets about it last year). But, if you’re willing to experience the film with an open mind, it’s one hell of a good time.

Good and fun! I will forever hate CGI blood, and this is no exception. But it moves swiftly and is lots of fun. Not sure if the satire fully works, but it’s at least trying something.
