A friend was like "have you watched this" and I was like "no but I've been meaning to" and then before I hit Play I looked it up on here and found out I had but it was pre-2020 which was basically lifetimes ago Still pretty good like I originally thought, turns out! First half could have been better but the last half hour is just constantly tense and has some moments that still stand out. PROBABLY didn't help that I checked my computer the first few times their camera equipment lagged because that's definitely the kind of thing shitty services have been doing to films lately. Physical media forever

Pretty good captivating story of Ghost Hunter wannabes in over their heads in a genuinely scary environment. Helps that the actors were fun throughout and the scary parts were surprisingly well-done

I had a surprisingly good time watching Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. Hearing that it was one of the better horror films to come out of Asia this year, I knew that it was one that I needed to watch. I happened to stumble upon a copy of the blu ray while at Walmart and knew it was destined for me to watch the film. Finally, I was able to take the time to watch the film, and I am beyond glad that I did. In part a traditional ghost story, with a twist like that of Grave Encounters, Gonjiam creates a genuinely creepy atmosphere that never ceases to lighten up. While there are some moments that were questionable, especially once the spirits physically start to manifest, but the scenes leading up to those are amazing. It's a film with a lot of hits, and a few misses, but there really isn't a horror films that manages to only hit home runs. This is a film that I would love to watch with a group of friends, since it's a terrifying film, but one that's also very entertaining.
