Death on the Nile

see i was prepared to be disappointed but my god i am so disappointed and pissed off, this doesn't even make sense. why is the first act of the movie an hour long, like they’re trying to establish the characters i get it but we also didn’t know enough abt them. then there’s the drawn out investigation that's just so boring and again don’t give us enough information. don’t even get me started how they killed bouc, he’s quite literally the best character in these series bcs poirot does not have any personality. the only good thing abt this are letitia wright, emma mackey, and sophie okonedo, their acting are incredible wow. and sophie okonedo if you're reading this i'm free on thursday night and i would like to hangout please respond to this and hangout with me on thursday night when im free also the fact that they had gal gadot and armie hammer playing lovers is so unserious because they really put two unlikable people together and expected me to root for them ijbol.

Death on the Nile

Genuinely one of the funniest moves I’ve ever seen. The dance scene at the start, the Cleopatra scene, the ‘enough champagne to fill the Nile’ and something about ‘he’s a bloodhound let him sniff’ were all laugh out loud moments. Some parts of this are genuinely awful but it’s very enjoyable watch, even if that’s just for the laughs alone. Oh, and the killers reason for doing the crime makes little to no sense but oh well it’s still funny.

Death on the Nile

A 2+ hour murder mystery where no murder happens in the first full hour and there ends up being no real mystery behind whodunit and why (I definitely don't think I'm smart, so if I was able to guess it upon a character's first appearance, I doubt I'm one of the only ones), the reveal of it all is one of the more dull parts even then, the acting goes viral for not-good reasons (Gal's champagne quote already pulled it off twice by itself!) and some of the story should too (the opening scene literally being an origin story of a mustache) But there were some beautiful shots throughout, Branagh gave a strong performance as an under-the-surface worn-down dude who wants a break more than anything else (and it's the one thing he can't solve), and everyone I wanted to die did. So I guess my opinion is ultimately the same as at the end of the far-superior Murder on the Orient Express (2017): keep Branagh as Poirot, and keep killing people I don't like, and I'll keep watching these no matter what else the experience brings. Consistency!

Death on the Nile

Death on the Nile

This was fine! Having seen the first film recently, I was able to compare the two, and I honestly enjoyed the first film more than this one. The characters were a little more likable, and the story progressed more naturally than this film did. That being said, the cast is impressive, and there are a few stand outs (Letitia Wright, Russell Brand, and Dawn French being the biggest stand outs). The film itself looks polished, though there are some pretty noticeable scenes heavily using green screen that took me out of the film completely. I just wish the story felt a little more natural, the grand reveal at the end didn’t have the same punch that the original did, leaving me feeling a bit disappointed in how it all played out. Still, it’s fun to see a whodunit in theaters, and Kenneth Branagh is a magnificent Hercules Poirot, and I would love to see more of this role in the future.
