If it weren't for ZSJL, the only Zack Snyder films I'd even remotely come close to liking are his zombie films. Maybe he should stick to those instead of capes and Ayn Rand?

rating 1/10 copy/paste of my comments from reddit: it had some cool moments but was overall stupid im tired of action (and disaster) movies that have the some ole estranged family/ absentee dad plot (2012, san andreas, etc) its been done to death. the whole plot with his daughter was unneeded. she wanted to go in, he said no even though she's a grown woman. smh. and the side plot with geeta going into the quarantine zone and then needing to be rescued...why? as people have mention (i didnt even think about it til now) if he just wanted the head why fake needing a heist? it makes no sense. he could've hired a team of mercenaries to specifically get the head of the queen zombie. speaking of her, the zombie fetus, were we suppose to believe she was pregnant before she became a zombie or these zombies were fucking? like wtf when the lead female character (no i dont remember names) was like confessing her feelings or whatever i was like "now is not the damn time" also that helicopter was shit wouldnt tanaka want to make sure the people had a vehicle that was in good condition to gaurantee that they'd get out. did he not think about how they'd get the head to him if it crashed?.... the first lady that died when after they went in didnt have to die like that. to me it looked like if they just shot the zombies surrounding her she could've gotten away before they got too close. and the german guy who had no experience shooting was really the only safe cracker they could find... also i just thought the whole zombie thing was bullshit, like there are regular zombies and then alpha zombies, why both? why not just choose one and work with that? and i have to say the beginning of the movie where the girl gives her husband a blowjob while driving pissed me off because how can you be that damn stupid, pull the fuck over. and there is still so much more that is wrong with it... a fucking disaster. (excuse the spelling/grammar errors)

I just realized, a full week after having watched this film, that I hadn’t logged it, since I haven’t thought about it since I watched it. Army of the Dead can be entertaining at times, but it’s overdrawn, featuring characters that I couldn’t connect to, so it became difficult to genuinely want to continue watching the film. There are some cool zombie effects, and I appreciate that they were trying to do something new with the genre, but when the zombies are the most interesting aspect of the film, there’s a problem. It’s interesting to watch, since it doesn’t feel like a typical Zack Snyder film, which I guess is why it’s ended up becoming so popular. But for me, it feels like you could have tacked on any other director’s name and I would have believed that it came from them. Army of the Dead isn’t a bad movie whatsoever, there’s just some aspects of it that I wasn’t a fan of. I was surprised to see how long the film was, and disappointed to see that the runtime wasn’t justified. They easily could have put this at an 100 minutes and achieved the same thing as the 150 minutes this cut is. I still would love to watch it with some friends, maybe seeing it with other people and having their energy might make it a more enjoyable film. I’m just a bit disappointed that I didn’t enjoy this as much as I was hoping I would.

i loved the funny blonde x big tough guy dynamic they were the best thing about this movie. the zombie tiger stole the show for me though

The premise was good and the alpha zombies were interesting; I wish we got to see more about how they lived and the hierarchy amongst them. The main issue is that the film is way too long and causes it to drag, and it leads to a very anticlimactic ending. Overall it's entertaining in some places but not worth watching more than once.

This film is pretty fun and enjoyable, but also feels like an identity crisis? Like Zack Snyder couldn't figure out if he wanted to do an heist film or a zombie-slashing action one... It felt like two or three completely different plotlines where going on at same time and in the same place. I also felt at some points that it ran for too long, its 2 hours and half runtime doesn't feel very justified. It had potential, but it's just so goofy and messy.
