Fail Safe

A masterpiece of cinema. The suspense and drama are felt throughout the entire during of this and the story is compelling and appalling. Needless murder which some still to this day try to justify is on full display in this, and the president makes an impossible decision to stop the world from ending. A fantastic film.

Fail Safe

“In a Nuclear War, everyone loses. War isn’t what it used to be.” Possibly the most stressful film ever? What a masterful war thriller, Sidney Lumet’s direction is phenomenal.

Fail Safe

“You learned too well professor. You learned so well that now there’s no difference between you and what you want to kill.” A staggering slow burn of a film. While I was initially irritated that the film felt all too similar Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove, the last third the film began to demand my rapt attention as it shifted into a thrilling exercise of political paranoia. FAIL SAFE is a thoughtful portrayal of what happens to a people when war mongering and aggressive propaganda are allowed to burgeon and thrive within a society. How warped and demented the average person’s thinking can become. When you think everyone who is not you is out to get you—they are. What does that look like at both an individual and collective level, specifically within the military? It looks like men being relieved of their senses, and choosing to commit atrocities just because they’re afraid, just because they can, just because they want to inflict pain and death upon their perceived enemies before they can do the same to them. Even with voices of reason speaking every now and then…nothing can penetrate through the din of war. An incredibly intelligent and empathetic film.
