Hale County This Morning, This Evening
When it comes to documentaries, there really isn't much that you can to do revolutionize the genre. Hale County This Morning, This Evening is an exception, leaving more room for discussion, rather than put forth a story. I find myself enjoying slice of life documentaries, and this one is one of the more interesting. We see the lives of individuals living in Hale County, Alabama, never seeming to settle long enough to develop, but long enough to make an impact. I think this definitely had the perfect running time, since it would have started to drag on if it had been longer, but wouldn't have been as effective if it were any shorter. I'm very glad that I was able to finally see this documentary, with thanks to PBS for putting it online for free, and I'm glad to finally have the documentary feature category completed for the Oscars. This isn't the strongest documentary that I've seen this year, but certainly is the most unique, as well as one of the most memorable.
