Diary entries forAll Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet on the Western Front
i read the book about 4 years ago when i took 20th century history as a bonus class in my senior year of high school. it was hard to create a visual in my mind while reading it, 1917 hadn't come out yet and there wasn't really any popular media about the first war that could help me visualize the horrors of WW1. nevertheless, that book remained ingrained in my mind as it was what really made me understand the extent of the first war. i've watched 1917 twice since then, but i was glad to know they were making a new adaptation of all quiet on the western front because i knew the german soldiers' WW1 was different than the one the brits and french experienced (without invalidating the trauma and horrors they went through). this movie did not disappoint at all, with a beautiful cinematography and soundtrack that deserved to be played in theatres as well as the story staying (almost) true to the book. felix kammerer's performance better be recognized for this year's award season, he played paul so well, just like i remember him from the book. as a big history buff and world war movies enjoyer, i can confidently say this one is easily in my top 3 of the best depictions of the world wars.

people saying "this should have been in theaters" need to consider that i should cry in public Less this year, not More. maybe think about that!
All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quit on the Western Front moved me deeply because it realistically and mercilessly depicts the horror and senselessness of war. The perspective of the young soldiers makes the story particularly haunting and emotional. The images are striking and create a depressing atmosphere. My only criticism is that some scenes seem a bit drawn out for my taste, and the narrative sometimes becomes a bit dry. Nevertheless, it is an important film that inspires reflection on war and humanity. In my opinion, it is one of the best German films.
All Quiet on the Western Front
I've always loved war cinema and I'm gratified to say that this is one of the best films I've seen in this genre in recent years. The pain and suffering feels so real that it is inevitable to me to feel helpless in every scene.

All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the most intense and heartbreaking war movies I’ve ever seen. From the first minute on, it shows how brutal, pointless, and terrifying war really is. The movie doesn’t try to make anything look heroic it’s raw, dirty, and painfully real, which makes it hit even harder. The acting is fantastic, and the way the movie shows the fear and hopelessness of the soldiers feels incredibly authentic. The soundtrack is outstanding; every time those loud trumpets hit, a shiver ran down my spine. The visuals are stunning yet deeply disturbing in the best possible way. It’s a powerful film that stays in your mind. Absolutely unforgettable.
All Quiet on the Western Front
With a story as solid as All Quiet on the Western Front has, it’s no surprise that this film manages to succeed as much as it does. To my surprise, I was taken back by how heavily they relied on visual aesthetics, managing to make one of the darkest periods in modern history look like an arthouse film. I’ve seen a few versions of this same tale, but this one stands out among the rest, both in how graphic it is, but the ability to translate this anti-war story into something that’s hard hitting. This story may have been done before in the past, but this certainly is the best iteration thus far. Very worthy of checking out.
