Oliver Tate: I knew then it was too late to save her. She'd gone gooey in the middle. From now on she'll buy little gifts for her favourite teachers and she'll admire the scenery and she'll buy soup for homeless people. And she'll never burn my leg here again.
Submarine
definitely wouldn't have enjoyed this as much if there was no alex turner soundtrack
Submarine
Amelie, but you're a young welsh bloke :)

Even tho it's comedy but i feel so depressed and lonely after watching this, i'm kinda like Oliver, too overthinking and awkwardly social, i'm afraid i'll be depressed like Oliver one day.

"...I could drink your blood. You are the only person that I would allow to be shrunken down to a microscopic size and swim inside me in a tiny submersible machine...You’re too good for me. You’re too good for anyone. Sincerely, Oliver.” None of this will matter when I'm 38 but I do have to say that this Wes Anderson knockoff matters to me than some of Wes Anderson's best work.

“Submarine” directed by Richard Ayoade is a dry coming of age film that I should have loved, but didn’t quite. The film revolves around Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) as he struggles to maintain his newfound relationship with classmate Jordana (Yasmin Paige) while trying to prevent his parents’ marriage from falling apart. The presentation here is superb. Snappy editing and a rich color palette help to service the already excellent cinematography (bless 35mm). However, I just couldn’t connect with this one emotionally. While it is true to the teenage experience (getting lost in your own thoughts and forming your own narratives because you believe you know everyone better than yourself), it’s a bit too dry of a film for me, which left me feeling detached while watching. Overall, it is a fun watch, but not my cup of tea. Perhaps if I had seen it a decade ago, I’d have a different opinion.
Submarine
i love that it’s not “perfect”
Submarine
this seems like the type of movie kids on tumblr in 2014 would have posted about
Submarine
