Just like Blood Rage, I found Pieces while going through Arrow Video's huge library. In a similar fashion, this is a typical slasher, filled with sex, gore, and awkward acting, which makes this even more enjoyable. It's not as memorable as Blood Rage, but still was just as entertaining, considering that it is very similar when it comes to horror to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as the weapon is the same and they both are horror films. Both films are very different, but still hold some similarities, hence why the poster for the film even mentioned it. Altogether, Pieces is a very fun slasher and altogether good time.

I’m annoyed I didn’t watch this sooner. It’s absolutely fantastic. Is it a goodmovie? No, not really, but it isa great movie. Just like the tagline says, it’s exactly what you think it is which, in this case, means is a big, loud, ridiculous, cheesy slasher.

A Bay of Blood: A Ranking of Slashers (1974 - 1990) (http://boxd.it/IoH8) Pieces is a film that nurtures blood, women, and death as the headlining act like a lot of slashers, exploiting them as a need to progress the story. By all means, it does, as a result of weak plot and uninspired characters. But I do forget, Pieces is an exploitation film, and a good one at that. The acting is cheesy and sometimes distasteful. It's been dubbed in post-production, resulting in an okay dub. Lines are sometimes delivered rather bad, but are nonetheless amusing. When the film abandons the detectives for a while, the teenage characters step in and the plot picks up pace. Yet, it's never fully exciting. When the killer takes front stage it sure does enliven the film. The kills are aplenty satisfying, but a little misogynist as it’s women who are only targeted. You can argue that it's the killer's character, but it's discerning when not one guy gets the exact treatment. The kills are nonetheless well done. Intense, fun, and stylish, nasty and depraved killing be done. All in all, Pieces is a deserving watch for any slasher fan. It doesn't necessarily flow like one, but it sure has fun with itself like any other would, making for a bloody sick experience.
