Setting aside theobviousissue, this fucking rules. Orson Welles was just on such an entirely different, and higher plane of technical mastery than basically anyone, before or since. Truly one of the most gifted and talented people Hollywood ever saw. Incredible how he can make everything feel so vital.

Shoddily edited, quickly paced and obviously shortened, and also succumbing to characters with no great depth - they're rushed, based on the fact that there's not enough time for a lot to be explored. But, Orson Welles is fantastic as Othello, and the film looks gorgeous, despite the full attention that is needed. Othello is what I can best describe as being a messy masterpiece.
