Voyeur
Voyeur is a captivating documentary that, while not making it clear as to what the true subject of the film is, manages to keep viewers invested and interested in the outrageous story. Journalism is always a sticky situation, especially when there only is one person to rely on to tell the story, which Gay Talese discovered may not be the best means to producing a story. The documentary focuses on the relationship between Talese and the voyeur himself Gerald Foos, showing how Talese established the relationship and the subsequent revelation of information from Foos. Foos is the focus of much of the documentary, but the main point of the documentary seems to be about Talese writing the story, rather than the story itself, leading the documentary to feel a little lost at some points, seeming to not fully know what it's subject was about. While there was a problem with the focus of the documentary, the rest of the documentary was captivating in all the right ways, showing an intriguing and disturbing story. Voyeur is an interesting documentary that, while not really knowing it's true subject, still remains to be one of the more intriguing and disturbing documentaries to come out this year.
