Pi is a very interesting character study, and when paired with the hypnotic score and stark visuals, Darren Aronofsky creates a captivating world anyone can become obsessed with. This was a fantastic film, with some stunning visuals and an unforgettable main character, I just had a problem with the middle of the film, where things started to cluster a bit. It's a very easy film to understand, but about halfway through, it dips a little, which made me lose interest, losing that connection I had to the first half of the film. The end of the film very much made up for the dip, but it still is there regardless. It's a very tight film, with little wiggle room for errors, which makes it a surprising debut film, showing what he is capable of doing. I'd been meaning to watch this film for years and I'm very glad that I finally had the opportunity to, since it really did surprise me. I really am interested by Aronofsky's filmography and may try to finish it up throughout this year.

this is your brain on math. as with a lot of directorial debut it’s interesting to see where filmmakers start off and what kind of reoccurring themes you can see in their work. granted the only other film i’ve seen from this guy is black swan, which in a more refined sort of way deals with a character’s obsession and pursuit of something making them lose their grip with reality. i liked the sort of ambiguous nature of some things. cool score/main theme. kind of reminded me a bit of tetsuo the iron man with the high contrast b&w and fast-paced/gritty style

El debut de Aronofsky es una mezcla extraña que recuerda a Lynch de principio a final, es tan demencial como inteligente, la opera prima del director deja en claro su fanatismo por el montaje violento y imagenes penetrantes a la vista del espectador.

This is an important film to me. I first saw it in high school. It's one of the first films I can recall that made me realize that films can be more than just entertainment; films can be art. When I finished watching it that first time, I remember thinking "I wanna make something like that someday." It pushed me further on my path towards filmmaking. Its soundtrack and score also introduced me to a lot of EDM/Electronic music, so that's a major plus.
