The Insult

The phrase "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me" is a phrase that never seems to be correct. Words can be a very powerful catalyst that can lead to some of the biggest conflicts the world has ever seen. The Insult examines the repercussions of words exchanged between two men, words that not only attack them as a person, but attack their heritage. Racism is something that has been on the forefront of politics today, with The Insult being a prime example that hatred based on heritage is still alive and well. It's a gripping legal drama that questions just how hurtful words can be and how detrimental they can be to a person's life. While I did not know of the events that were depicted in this film with the conflict in Lebanon, it's still a very eye opening film to the different cultures around the world. The Insult shows prejudice is still prevalent around the world and that these prejudices can lead to conflict that causes change, for the better or for the worse.
