Endurance reigns in White Material. Persistence to keep yourself afloat, to keep what you have going on a path to continuing, despite the adversity you may face. Isabelle Huppert is absolutely spellbinding, offering one of the strongest of the roles I have seen from her. It's hard to be a fan of film and not know Claire Denis and know her influence on modern cinema, and if White Material is any indication of the type of filmmaker she is, I know for certain that I am going to fall in love with her filmography. From the second that I first discovered this film, I knew that I wanted it to be my first film from Denis, and it definitely delivered on all levels. I cannot wait to see everything else that Denis has to offer, and cannot wait to finally have the chance to see High Life later this week.
