What an oddball. Interesting metaphor but it's too goofy for me to take it seriously. I disliked 2 characters, which is bad. There are only 3 characters. Also, the strange world is just not intriguing at all. It's a basic and shallow idea that tried being zany. I felt absolutely nothing when watching this movie. 2/10. This movie only gets two stars and not one because I think Imogen Poots did a good job.

Literally the real demon child, Omen met ur rival. The way i'm actually enjoying this, i would live Happily at Yonder, but of course without that demon damn child.

An overstuffed attempt at examing suburbia and the idea that milennials don’t want to grow up, Vivarium shoots big, but ends up falling short of the target. This would have worked as a short film (which, surprise, there is one from the director already), but the easy 100 minute runtime takes ages to conclude. The cold sets and cinematography certainly suit the film, and make it visually interesting - but, with a lack of substance in the plot, Vivarium finds itself in a lull and is unable to find its footing again. Granted, there are some sequences that are interesting, and some scenes that definitely shock, but in the end, they end up being more confusing than helpful. I understood where the director was wanting to go with the bird imagery, but it is so off-the-walls that it seems like it was made up on the spot, rather than smartly integrated into the film. Vivarium was one of my most anticipated films of last year, and it’s a shame that I didn’t enjoy it on my initial viewing. This one may be a film that I end up enjoying in the future, but for the moment, I’m left disappointed.

That was fucking trippy and I really enjoyed it. The ending bit especially. The premise is really good but could have been executed way better but it's good for what it is
