Panic Room
An interesting concept and an interesting film, panic room is enjoyable for pretty much anyone. The acting from Jodie Foster is great and from Kristen Steward is awful, but overall the performances are good. Well worth a watch.

Controle cênico, uma tensão genuína e a forma como Fincher explora essa casa que é grande, mas ao mesmo tempo claustrofóbica. Os dilemas morais que se estabelecem pela encenação, não precisa ser expositivo, existe algo nessa casa (principalmente no quarto mega trancado) e todo o jogo cênico que usa de planos abertos deixam essa urgência explicita. A forma como tem sempre uma sombra se esgueirando pôr detrás de alguém, a virada de invasores que se tornam reféns. A conclusão foi onde me desconectei mais. Quando eles entraram no quarto, foi um sentimento de fim que nunca chegou, felizmente a conclusão é tensa e enérgica como poucas nessa virada do cinema digital. Não é um dos melhores do Fincher, mas é um ótimo filme ainda.

Se existe algo que o cinema de Fincher soube assimilar bem foi a digitalização do dispositivo cinematográfico. Da película para o digital, a sua noção cênica conseguiu se adaptar e manter o apuro que o cineasta dá ao espaço e a relação da câmera dentro da mise-en-scène. No seu último filme rodado em 35 mm, o diretor estabelece essa dinâmica da decupagem com o ambiente em uma lógica de aprisionamento que torna até os sets mais amplos em claustrofóbicos nesse jogo de enclausuramento e perseguição. O segmento da invasão (https://youtu.be/jp57gPI1DJI?si=E_R90gd6_oKHktjt) já é bem revelador, especialmente em como o CGI entra para estabelecer essa maleabilidade da cena - e em como a câmera se desloca pelos cômodos da casa - , transformando aquele espaço doméstico corriqueiro em um cenário para seu thriller de assalto e home invasion aflitivo.

This is classic Fincher. Tense, claustrophobic and stylish as hell. The whole movie basically takes place in one house yet it never gets boring for a second. The pacing, camera work and mood are on point. I love the camera work of this movie. The film keeps you on edge the whole time. It’s not overly complicated just a tight, well made thriller that does exactly what it should. Simple setup. Great execution. Pure tension.

❝How do you live in New York and not have a single percocet?❞ 𐄁─────⋆⁺‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧⁺⋆─────𐄁 I first watched Panic Room ages and ages ago, and the only thing I remembered was that Kristen Stewart was in it. So you can imagine the horror I felt when Jared Leto with cornrows popped up on my screen. Aside from that, this is actually a pretty solid thriller with some great performances from Jodie Foster and Forest Whitaker especially. I loved the really fluid and precise camerawork, which really helped with building tension and a lot of claustrophobia, but I wasn't a big fan of the pacing and resolution towards the end. Apart from the Jared Leto jumpscare, a great film from David Fincher and one I'd recommend watching.
