The Housemaid
70/100 I mean I understand that the poor can only do so much in terms of revenge to hurt the rich but to traumatise the one little girl who was nice to you seems uncalled for. Sure maybe the girl will grow up and will be tormenting her parents but you’re still hurting the girl for life! All this started because that old bitch can’t keep her mouth shut. They love gossiping. Then we see a slow emotional torture of Jeon Do-yeon (I have a crush now btw) who I thought was actually brilliant, I really felt bad for her. She looks like Mrunal Thakur when she has that awkward smile, just something I noticed. The film started off really hot, porn settings and I didn’t really know how it would go but it was exciting for obvious reasons. Before I go on, that’s Mr. Squid Game himself??? I saw a thin and young guy resembling Lee Jung-jae and looking it up, voila. This man looked good. Gradually however, the film dies down, everything becomes slower, nothing drags but the conversations seem pointless, there’s a lack of urgency from our housemaid and it feels very planned whereas it should’ve been more chaotic or they could’ve just gone all dark and twisted. There’s a stark contrast between rich and poor and the things the rich can get away with but that’s about it. I didn’t get much out of this movie.

I decided to rewatch it because the first time I wasn't paying attention to it. The star grading will remain the same as I think it is suitable for it to have two and a half. Moving on, I won't deny on my first watch I didn't understand the ending. I didn't get the weirdness coming from the family. However, it makes sense why they were acting so strangely. Drowning themselves in luxury to become happy, trying to forget but just feeling empty while the years keep passing. The movie is a decent watch a little more calm than other thrillers but is not going to bored you. Now, I must watch the 1960 original film as this melodramatic erotic one is the remake.
