All the Money in the World

All the Money in the World is one mess of a film. Not with the plot, but what occurred before the film was even released. Kevin Spacey coming under fire for sexual harassment caused a huge stir within the industry, causing him to be completely re-casted a month before this film's release. It's a miracle that Christopher Plummer was able to re-shoot his scenes and have the editors fully edit the film and still come out at the same time it was initially going to be released. It's an intriguing film that kept me interested in certain parts, but there were many moments where the film started to really slow down and I started to lose interest. My interest would almost immediately be picked back up, but it just didn't seem to be consistent enough to keep my full attention the full time. The performances are great, even though some characters are completely forgettable, like Mark Wahlberg's character. It's a good film that looks great and has some great acting, but really isn't a film that I am going to be constantly recommending and thinking about in a couple of days. Plummer gives a solid performance that is deserving of his nomination, and it's just crazy to think that this nomination could have went to Spacey, but here we are with Christopher Plummer being nominated instead.

All the Money in the World

All the Money in the World

“No one is above money” After a big scandal involving Kevin Spacey, Ridley Scott said “fuck it” and reshot all of Spacey’s scenes in this movie with Christopher Plummer and y’know what, it works so much better, cus not only does Plummer resemble the real life Getty more than the heavy and awful make up job that was seen in the early trailers, but he brings real gravitas to the role and not only that but Michelle Williams is back in her A game (after being completely wasted in “The Greatest Showman”) and both of them make the movie. Mark Whalberg, well, is Mark Whalberg, he’s not bad but he doesn’t stand out, specially when the other two main actors are putting great performances. It starts off slow but it picks up by the 2nd act and gets more intense, give it a watch if you can.
