The Post
The Post
Got good towards the end. But slow to start with, but by the end you could cut the tension with a knife - so good. I love a good expose. Imagine how many more secrets the US government is hiding. Makes me want to take my passion of getting into crime journalism seriously.
The Post
In today's heated political climate, The Post is a film that is relevant, but feels necessary. With the current tensions between government and press, this film truly is necessary viewing to show just how powerful the press is, and how the press keeps the government in check. Spielberg has created some amazing films, but The Post truly is one of his best films. With a tight script and A+ group of actors, Spielberg manages to keep a good grip on the story, all the while still making it relevant today. Freedom of the press is something that the founders of the United States said was necessary to have a thriving democracy, and it seems that the press has been muted as of late, with some deeming almost every story as "fake news", which is a terrifying statement from the people who run the country. The Post may be about a story that occurred over 40 years ago, but every viewer can take aspects of the film and place it here today. The Post truly is a magnificent film and a necessary film amidst all of the political drama that we're currently living in. It may be boring for many people, since that's the largest complaint I've heard about this film at the theater, but regardless, it's as relevant as ever.
The Post
Only as decent as it is because of Spielberg. Only liked it as much as I did because I like investigative narratives, and a lot of those elements were done really well…aside from that, it’s quite skip-able. I did chuckle at the tease for All the President’s Men (1976) at the end. Easily the stronger entry in The Washington Post Cinematic Universe.
The Post
The movie that inspired me to try take a journalism course years ago (it may not have ended like so, but I love advertising too, so all is well :) ).
The Post
There is a scene in which Meryl Streep rolls down the staircase of the Supreme Court as Katharine Graham in which she passes young, rebellious women who held banners of free speech. It was more than free speech that was sought after, but the call for women to contain both verbs “be” and “do”, and to propel from “what used to be”, a fantastic biopic of what Graham has fought for as a woman in free speech.
The Post
WOW! I'm amazed by the newspaper machine that they use to print it. Anyway, The Post is different from any other journalism movies that I've been watched. This one doesn't use journalist's perspective, but more to how the officials of newspaper company have a significant role to make a changes. Love it. Btw, Marina is a smart kid, lol.
The Post
The Post
A bit of a slow start, but it was good once it got rolling. I was not familiar with the story, so interesting plot. Acting was fine. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad. Somewhat of a niche topic, but I thought it was good. Arguably the best part was the last 30 seconds lmao. 7.5
