The Grandmother
Night 22 of 31 Nights of Halloween The Grandmother is one of the last short films I have needed to see to complete David Lynch’s filmography, and I’m very glad that I finally was able to catch this, thanks to the Criterion Channel. It’s Lynch’sdistinct style, morphing live action and animation into nightmarish imagery. The runtime went by in the blink of an eye, and is one of Lynch’s stronger short films. He has an impressive catalogue, and The Grandmother certainly is one of the standouts.
The Grandmother
When you’re so lonely you have to hallucinate just to create a spark of joy in a house full of abuse. David Lynch has always been deranged in the best way possible the movie is kinda creepy, but for a budget of barely $7k, he truly made the most of it. It’s a surrealist autopsy of how a broken home forces a child to retreat into their own dark imagination

DIRECTORS SUITE: DAVID LYNCH | Surrealist Bliss and Idiosyncrasy (https://boxd.it/15hMG) With its arrangement of pale faces and dark rooms—the most whitest of faces set against the blackest of backgrounds—this disturbing and totally surreal short film from David Lynch is really just a more unappealing version of Eraserhead, with lesser impact. In fact, this is the weirdest film I've seen in general from the director, and it's also the first short film of his that I've decided to tackle, although I can't say I enjoyed it too much. The Grandmother manages to burn a deep and depressing hole into viewers heads with its weird animations and obscure storyline—the pulsating organs only compliment the already incredibly eerie sound design—backed up by the howls/murmurs/cries of foreign language that make it all the more strange. The whole thing is truly surreal, but, maybe Lynch milked it too much with this one—good thing it's only thirty-four minutes long. 2.3/5
The Grandmother
La seducción de este ejercicio en lynch es meramente estético el resto es un conjunto de ideas que no resultan desarrollandose del todo.
The Grandmother
