Reviews forThe First Omen
DAY 1 OF A NEW HORROR MOVIE EVERY DAY OF OCTOBER

rating: ★ ★ ★ ½ ☆ this was really good looool like i'm genuinely really surprised with how good this was. the first two acts were incredible, especially the second, very gripping and suspenseful. i absolutely loved the cinematography LOVED IT. it was refreshing. the movie itself wasn't scary, and we can go on all day about how a horror movie doesn't need to be scary in order to be good, but the lack of fear i felt when watching this is what i liked the most. it was all replaced with, in my opinion, great directing, acting and story telling. the plot was defo something that got better and better as you kept on watching. the scene with paolo was so brilliant my jaw was on the floor, i couldn't stop thinking about it throughout the rest of the movie. another really good scene i think was the water breaking ahhhhhhhh cinema is beautiful. i don't think i'll ever fully enjoy a woman's story in a movie / show revolving around her being able to reproduce and bear children (especially after vikings valhalla i went on a rant about it all on serializd already) because, yes that is one of the horrors of being a woman (yes horror. personally one of my biggest fears in the whole world is falling pregnant) so i do understand how this subgenre of horror works well but also i didn't mind it much because the movie is about religion and how a certain side of christianity views women and children. i cannot hate it for it. i haven't much else to say but i do wanna mention immaculate briefly because i've seen a few reviews comparing the two and fairly so. i loved immaculate. would this movie be 4 stars if the third act was as good as the first two ? yes. did i prefer immaculate in general ? maybe ??? i'm not sure, i think i do. already i can tell i won't be thinking about this movie much past posting this review, but with immaculate i can't help but think about it every now and then. whether it be because i wanted to see the baby or because the field scene is imprinted in my mind as one of the best scenes ever. i prefer immaculate mainly because i liked how it was shot a lot better, it was minimalistic and simple and felt very realistic, almost like a virtual experience. where i think this movie does it better is definitely in the development of the plot, it's more intricate, perhaps because it's a prequel, idk. anyway, it was fun, solid 3 stars, would recommend to anyone really. though i would recommend immaculate more if you like blood and hate men.
In the Name of God

_Rotted corpus satani ave_ _Ave versus jesus cristus_ _Ave versus jesus cristus_ _Ave versus jesus cristus_ “The truth is there are two churches. The one that follows the teachings of Christ, the one that we are part of. And the other. The church that turn the blind eye at torture, to rape. To commit murder in the name of God. All in the name of a supreme power.” Martyrdom. Unchosen martyrdom. A blanket of lies. The embrace of a demon. Margaret: a girl, born of unspeakable evil, born to produce the Antichrist, born to die. For the good of God. For the good of the Church. Fighting against a fate that she did not choose, constantly assailed by the forces of evil, paranoia driving her towards insanity. Arkasha Stevenson’s The First Omen is still pure magic, shocking and bold; blending some of the best of Euro horror with all of the hallmarks of good Catholic horror into a very appropriately retro-style picture that feels so earnest and looks so gorgeous and propelled by a modern lens peering into the past. Nell Tiger Free is so fantastic in this film, insane to me that she isn’t in more stuff. “The things we do aren’t always pleasant, but we do them in the name of God.” “It’s all for you.”
