I had high hopes for this one after Infinity Pool and it did not deliver, I couldn’t even get through this one all the way

c'est vachement bien filmé et y'a des plans du turfu mais je trouve que ça manque un peut d'exposition, que ce soit pour les personnages ou le concept, meme si le fait que le concept soit vague est voulu je suis pas ultra fan. overall c'est bien quand meme

Hot take: directors with the last name Cronenberg are pretty dang good at making insane visually-pleasing horror films

Masterful in direction, and extremely well-written, Possessor shows the power of aesthetic and plot working hand in hand to create a truly remarkable experience. Riseborough has had a string of fantastic films, and Possessor joins among those, with Abbott giving the best performance of the film. Cronenberg knows how to get an audience’s attention and never let go, with an opening sequence that will hold onto you and keep you glued to the screen. I’m very impressed by this film, and am very interested to see where else Cronenberg decides to go with his films.

83/100 Okay maybe I believe in Brandon Cronenberg. Maybe he isn’t all batshit crazy like his dad and actually has some sensible but chaotic ideas, ideas that aren’t out of the realm of possibility. I think this is a very good film; takes about 15 minutes to pick up but once it does, there’s no stopping it. The last 30 minutes have so much information and transitions between Vos and the guy that it feels like an hour, very well edited. It is highly explicit as is expected and it is quite twisted the way it progresses. The story is engaging and the ending is intense and somehow manages to make you feel sad but nothing in the next scene, kind of like Vos. The great thing about this film which I think the director wanted to accomplish and he clearly did was that you feel what Vos is feeling. There’s a sense of calm at times and nervousness in others. One of the few so-called experimental films that I actually really like.  Also I do not think Andrea Riseborough deserved to get an Oscar nomination for this, the guy she was playing had more screen time than her or at least that’s what I felt and he did an excellent job.

I feel like I got more out of it this time around. One of my faves of 2020, can’t wait for more from Brandon.
