Damsel
an...odd film that keeps going well beyond the point where it should have ended
Damsel
Damsel is an off-kilter western that feels fresh in a genre that can get quite repetitive. Damsel revels in the absurd, creating moments that were surprisingly funny and bizarre, which kept me on my toes. I didn't even realize how long the film was, since it seemed to start and end within half an hour, since I was so invested in the story. The actors are all fantastic, as well as the score and cinematography. I've never been one to love a western, but this year has produced both Damsel and The Sisters Brothers, which look to change my opinion on the genre as a whole. Damsel is a different breed of western that I am becoming very fond of, and would love to see more like it.
