BLAME!
this is a respectable introduction to nihei's world, prioritizing a more conventional narrative to suit general audiences. for me, however, it inevitably loses the manga’s profound essence. the original tells its story through staggering architecture and oppressive silence. for me, the setting itself is the protagonist. while the movie captures the aesthetic danger of the city and the lethality of its threats, it replaces haunting ambiance with straightforward plot. the adaptation treats the source material with clear affection, but for the immersive, dialogueless atmosphere that makes BLAME! unique, the manga remains the vastly superior experience.
