SPOOKTOBER #21 The story’s simple, but the director really knows how to work it, making the single location feel fresh and tense. It’s quick-paced, which keeps things moving and keeps you on edge. The horror scenes actually deliver, even if a few jump scares feel kinda classic. They still get you, though! Overall, it’s just a fun, straightforward ride that nails the thrills without overdoing it.

Wanted to love this, and for the first half I did, but this quickly turns into a silly typical horror. Guess what’s scary, jump scares! Watch this film and you’ll be bombarded with jump scares every five minutes. Jump scares aren’t good horror, they’re cheap and easy, a good rule of thumb is the more jump scares a film has, the worse it gets. One or two isn’t too bad, anything more than five is criminal. Also, the witch story could’ve worked, it was just done in such a silly way. Feels cheap, again, what a shock. Cut out all the jump scares and this would’ve been a lot better. The performances were surprisingly good, I just wish the director had a bit more about him.

Filmes de terror que além de um bom Thriller, possui um mistério cativante e não abandonam a fantasia. Lembro que esse aqui foi lançado em uma época onde o gênero de terror fantástico tava sendo descredibilizado, mas mesmo assim ele se mantém fiel a proposta e é tão bom quanto da primeira vez que eu vi. Gosto do conceito de ser um necrotério e a ameaça ser algo etereo e físico ao ponto que o crescimento da trama alimenta essa dúvida e quando crava a certeza ele é tão satisfatório quanto sádico. A parte gráfica é algo que impressiona, tanto pela credibilidade que os atores transmitem quanto o fato de que a atriz que faz a Jane Doe, sem falar ou piscar uma vez, te transmite uma sensação de terror e desconforto que é hipnotizante e aterrorizante. Um dos melhores da década passada fácil fácil!

So brutally and barbarly, i think the doctor or doctor student will love this movie. But if it be longer in the autopsy session rather than the horror i think it would be great.

"You know why I used to call her Ray? Ray of sunshine." This is such a beautifully shot movie, you really do feel trapped in there with them for the entire time. I love how their perception of reality was screwed, especially the weather. Always a great rewatch.

After letting this film sit for a while, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit The Autopsy of Jane Doe. After finding the film to be well done the first time, it really started to grow on me. Now that I've revisited it, I realize that it is actually one of the best of the modern horror films. Although it does rely on the typical jump scares, it manages to create an extremely tense and frightening atmosphere that stays throughout the entire film. Once the film starts to get scary, it doesn't stop, which is something many films don't do. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is one of the better horror films to come out recently and definitely is going to be one that will be recognized for how good it is.
