This film should be called "Super What The Fuck Times" cause it felt like a fever dream. This movie is incredibly well shot and keeps the viewer's attention. The movie is also super fucking depressing and just weird? I don't even know how to talk about this movie. It's not a perfect movie or a bad movie. The cast is full of young people who are incredibly talented. They are perfect in their roles, the cinematography is beautiful but the film feels dark. It left me wanted more and nothing else at the same time This film is really odd

The Year is 2017: Ranked and Reviewed (https://boxd.it/1aqJG) This decade's Mean Creek, split between coming-of-age commotion and devastating results—a moody, gently intoxicating tale that comes together incredibly well after its surprising and somewhat far-fetched ending. Super Dark Times is superbly filmed and captured, with the sulky 90s winter vibe transparent in the background—almost a perfect backdrop for this type of murderous downcast, as it adds to each frame and snap of tension. The result is a fairly different but honest coming-of-age thriller, similar to Mean Creek or even A Simple Plan, fit with great characters and performances that make the whole thing a fascinating watch. Perhaps it isn't as hard-hitting or memorable as some of its peers, but the aftermath is an undoubtedly gutsy piece of the super dark times that surround the film. Its coming-of-age romance is sweet to watch, despite the majority of it that's interrupted by the important juice of the story—the event that seeps into the protagonist's head and dreams, very much shaping the way he thinks—making for a better splash of realism and feelings. With all its flaws, Super Dark Times proved to be a compelling and dark coming-of-age movie with a lot of stylish flair to make it particularly worthwhile. 4.0/5
