My absolute favorite sci-fi horror

"Control, if you're listening, and you probably are 'cause you're creepy that way, can I just rant for a second about the micromanagement?" Always a favorite of mine, the way its shot and the ending just destroys me. Sho I believe you got home to Mei.

Aliens are always a very interesting concept to make films into. There are so many ways that people over the years have made aliens, so it's rare to find a new type of alien. Life manages to take the alien concept and really change it, creating a new type of alien that is really fresh. While the film has a fresh take on the alien genre, that doesn't make up for the rest of the film. The film as a whole felt extremely clunky, with parts that really worked and many others that did not. The dialogue didn't feel natural at times, while having some really witty lines at others. This back and forth between the film being good and bad really was difficult to watch at times, making you lose interest in the film as a whole. The end of the film will anger many, but it's an ending that I saw coming from the beginning of the film. This had the potential to be a great film, but the film as a whole was just too clunky to really enjoy. It's nice to see a new type of alien on the screen, but it's a shame it was in an average alien movie.

I'm in my sci-fi movie era. The only thing I knew about this is that it was kinda like an alien copycat. This was both surprising and very strange. I found it to be very enjoyable and interesting. The story is very interesting and intriguing. It starts out pretty slow but once everything starts its bonkers. The alien looks great and is pretty ruthless. I wish we got more explanation on it though. The characters were pretty enjoyable. This is one of the most stacked horror movie casts I've seen. Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Hiroyuki Sanada. The horror did feel very similar to alien in a way. Less strange though. The kills were a bit uncanny looking for most of it. The story was really enjoyable for me though. That ending I already guessed but is still crazy. I get this was made almost 10 years ago, but I wish there was a follow up to it. It was such a good ending. This felt as bit long tbh. It could've been a bit shorter. But overall I found this to be a pretty enjoyable and cool sci-fi horror film. Great alien scenes, ok kills, stacked cast and entertaining plot.

❝It's just surviving. Life's very existence requires destruction. Calvin doesn't hate us. But he has to kill us in order to survive.❞ ──────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹────── Life is just so painfully average. I can tell they tried, but it's just a worse Alien. This film has such a good ensemble cast (except Ryan Reynolds), and it underutilises them by giving them such a boring script. Also, if I had a nickel for every time Hiroyuki Sanada died a premature death in a space film, I'd have two nickels, which isn't that weird but it's happened two days in a row for me. The visuals were pretty good, but the CGI of Calvin was a little janky at times. I did like the ending, though; if I went through all that just to fail, I'd off myself immediately.

Nothing really new here, but it’s done pretty well. Surprisingly mean for a big studio movie. Remember when people thought this was a secret Venom movie?
