A Bay of Blood: A Ranking of Slashers (1974 - 1990) (http://boxd.it/IoH8) Looking at a list of 70s British slasher, there really isn't a lot to choose from—in fact, I don't recall ever being exposed to one, except for now—and maybe it's for good reason. Terror includes pieces of supernatural terror, some that work to effect, and others that fail tremendously, and yet, it's still the best thing about this terribly constructed slasher. I didn't have fun with this film until the final fifteen or so minutes when its majority of supernatural acts are, while silly, pretty entertaining. There's nothing both funnier and scarier than a dude getting attacked by a ton of film reel while he waves around like an idiot. This thing doesn't get its characters right—nor does it care about them—and yet it takes its sweet ass time with getting anywhere. Also, at times its soundtrack sounds like a carny trying to play showtunes. The ending is reminiscent of Suspiria and its nowhere as good, but probably the greatest moment in the film. In the end, it really isn't worth the wait—unless you do want to see a dude entangled in a mass of killer film reel. 2.0/5
