The funniest dance scene ever is in this movie
Permanent Vacation
Permanent Vacation is the sophomore feature from Jim Jarmusch, a director so widely renowned and appreciated, and totally unique. It'd come as a surprise for any fan to see his debut and be left feeling tired and greatly underwhelmed. It's a very indie movie, given that it looks quite student-made and low-budget, and it nonetheless hinders on the fact. Poorly recorded audio is a solid turn off and a slowly accepting mark in the film, and thus the voice overs are rather distasteful. The script is a hackneyed Jarmusch, appearing more driftless than unique; moving at a slow and wishy-washy pace. Enduring rambles are overstretched to the point of feeling pretentious, and the main character is nowhere interesting or exciting so every scene feels a little dull. But it all screams classic Jim Jarmusch; a young and aspirant one. It's yet difficult to say anything positive nor anything extremely negative. Permanent Vacation just falls flat in many departments mostly due to the fact it's written and directed by a hugely important filmmaker. Unfortunately, Jarmusch's debut is not entirely worth checking the fuck out, that is unless you are a fan of the otherwise brilliant director. And in that case, you kinda have to.
