Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Um grupo de terroristas se unem para despertar titãs adormecidos na esperança de salvar o mundo. Porém eles despertam uma criatura que não é nativa da terra e ameaça fortemente o equilíbrio do mundo, Ghidora. E só Godzilla pode resolver esse problema. Godzilla 2 rei dos monstros mostra que aprendeu com os erros de su anterior e, ao invés de esconder a criatura ou deixar ela em 3° plano (coisas que vez ou outra acontecem, mas que antes eram em excesso) mostra seu protagonista e os demais monstros com um foco maior. A priore isso é positivo e realmente, as cenas de embate dos monstros são bem feitas, extremamente bem filmadas e o designe de produção somado aos efeitos especiais tornam o espetáculo visual extremamente atrativo aos olhos e mantém o foco naquilo que gostaríamos de ver: os monstros. Porém, se esse filme possui um gra de defeito ainda é a presença de personagens humanos pouco carismáticos, com função apenas de narrar o que vai acontecer e desenvolver um drama faniliar tão fraco que, sinceramente quando não é o foco da história você nem sente falta e quando recebe foco, você não liga porque são personagens vazios de camadas que os tornem minimamente dignos da nossa empatia e atenção sem falar que eles sempre estão no centro da história e mais parecem atrapalhar do que ajudar (adoro a cena em que o Godzilla vai enfrentar Ghidorah pela segunda vez e o carinha fala: agora vamos participar do combate... Sendo que eles nunca deixaram de estar no meio dele). No mais, Godzilla 2: Rei dos Monstros é uma sequência que supera seu primeiro filme pois aprende com os erros do passado e ao invés de esconder o monstro, ele e os demais estão no centro da tela dessa vez. Sim ainda acontece do filme focar em personagens humanos desinteressantes e com zero personalidade, mas pelo menos dá pra minimamente ver as criaturas trocando porrada e é justamente isso que se espera de um longa cuja a proposta é um duelo de titãs colossais.

Uma revisita que melhorou e em muito minha experiência, principalmente quando eu percebi que esse filme é um exemplar perdido da era Heisei. O exército como base de operações pró e anti-monstros. A presença de Gidorah como uma ameaça a nível mundial e uma aeronave estupidamente gigante que parece um mecha, mas ainda não chegamos lá. Se Gareth Edwards tinha vergonha de fazer um filme de monstro gigante, Dougherty tem tesão em fazer isso. Seus monstros são expostos, jogados na luz e quando a cena é escura ele trabalha bem iluminações externas para que as criaturas sejam visíveis. Cada novo monstro é um deleite visual a escala de epicidade do despertar de Rodan é melhor que tudo que foi feito no filme anterior e quando a trilha original de '54 tocou... Eu fiquei todo arrepiado. Esse aqui é um que vale a pena passar por uma revisão, principalmente se você é um fã da franquia no geral.

When the Sally's character gets eaten by a monster (spoilers) , considering the level of importance of her (at least the potential), my literal words are: F*ck this sh*t, i'm out. You know what i'm talking about. On the other side... Epicness on the monsters, annoyance on the stupid humans. Basically they (and the New filmmakers) made the bad decisions in just one move. Literally, i'm out. Upgrade 22/02/20: OK, i overreacted to this. Actually, it's a cool monster flick mixed with a bad sci-fi movie. I guess I haven't enjoyed this as I should. Anyway...

Absolute mayhem when it gets going, making for my personal favorite of the MonsterVerse films we have so far. The introduction of the other Titans works so well, and does a great job and pushing us closer to the next film and introduction of Kong. Overall a very, very fun watch.

While it may have lost the original meaning behind the 1954 classic Godzilla film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters continues to entertain in a blockbuster way. The enemies are bigger, badder, as is Godzilla himself, making way for some of the best monster fight scenes that I have ever seen. It's been interesting seeing director Michael Dougherty go from a film like Trick 'r Treat to Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but he hasn't seemed to lose himself. While the script certainly needed some work, as many character motivations (i.e. Vera Farmiga's entire character) didn't seem to have much meaning or thought, the visuals start to make up for the lack of characterization. The creature effects are truly breathtaking, and really start to shine in the final battle. Some of these monsters are truly terrifying, and the effects are breathtaking. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is far from the original Godzilla film, coming up with a different lore entirely, showing these titans have been here for a long time, rather than him be birthed by the hydrogen bomb, as it was in the original. Regardless, this film makes me very excited to see the next installment into the series, and while this may have been a dud in the characters, I was thoroughly entertained the entire film, and am in awe from the stunning visuals.

Still very much fun this time around, Godzilla: King of the Monsters may lack some severe character development, but with some fantastic visual effects and monster mayhem, it more than makes up for flat characters. I honestly can’t wait for Godzilla vs. Kong next year, especially after how much I enjoy this one.

El diseño de Ghidorah y Godzilla están pero al punto, que exquisitos, me gustó la batalla de ambos pero un problema que suelo tener con estas pelis es demasiado el enfoque humano, está bien, pero quiero ver más a los monstruos en acción. Genial.
