Sing Street

never related to a character more in my life than when brendan had his meltdown about how he once was the jet engine kid but he had to pave the way for his younger siblings and now he's just a college dropout stoner

Sing Street

Sing Street

John Carney did it again! Just like "Begin Again", the soundtracks were the best part of the movie. My favorite? "Drive It Like You Stole It".

Sing Street

A Happy-Sad production conducted by futurists (none of this would make sense if you haven't seen the film), sewn through a stream of 1985 melodies and impressing girls. This feel-good feature from John Carney is his best work — a musical drama/comedy that reflects on nostalgia, family, and the guiding light that is music. This is the type of film that cares about their characters relationship with music — exactly why and how they use it to cope with their lives. Throw in a round of pretty good tunes that echo an important part of the story and it makes perfect sense why Sing Street works so well. 4.0/5

Sing Street

”Rock n Roll is a risk! You risk being ridiculed!” A self-labelled futurist teen from Dublin starts a band to impress a girl in John Carney’s latest venture into the depths of music and visuals. Sing Street is an ode to the 1980s British Pop scene, one that pertains to a quite remarkable coming of age story set in Ireland, with each song being a self-expression of love, influences, and life, all spilled within the words of youngsters trapped against the hierarchy of life, and with the intentness of not giving a downright shit. Like Carney’s previous films, music acts as life’s decoder of true emotion. And once again he crafts a splendid and feel-good spectacle; a happy-sad dive into nostalgia, music, and love. Fuck, I may have cried at one point. It's perhaps 2016’s most intimate and admirable film yet.
