Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Started off thinking this was just about some billboards. Ended up questioning the nature of justice, redemption, and my own emotional stability. Also, Frances McDormand is terrifying (in the best way).

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

This has been on my watchlist for a while and I’m glad to finally have it watched. Believe the hype. This is pretty great and tells the story of loss, and the pain and suffering associated with losing a loved one. It’s gritty and real, with great performances around the board. The story is tragic yet beautiful and the pacing is fantastic. Really enjoyed this.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

A conflicted experience. One of the rarest examples I can think of where I love a film, some of its scenes, and a lot of its performances; yet completely hate most of the plot, goings-on, and ending, and don't really want to ever view the full thing again. McDormand is obviously the star of the show and deserved all the praise. A less-rewatch-friendly Burn After Reading isn't what I expected here.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Un renegado, irreverente, brutal pero al final demoledor y excelente drama que explora su entorno en base a los personajes.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

There's a lot of things that are profoundly wrong with this film that I am too teary-eyed, as per usual, to get into (and that haven't been properly discussed and fleshed out by others on here), but man it still managed to win me over..  "Penelope said begets?" was also hilarious

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Martin McDonagh has had an interesting career thus far. His debut, In Bruges, is one of the darkest comedies that I've seen in a long time. His sophomore feature, Seven Psychopaths, was equally as dark, but was much more comedic. Here we are with McDonagh's third feature, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, a film that manages to capture the darkness of his first film and the comedy of his second film to create a film that manages to make you laugh, but still remains to be one of the darkest and saddening films of the year. Three Billboards is more of an examination of grief and death, rather than a film just about solving a crime. That's where many people are going to dislike this film, as it isn't the typical crime drama, but an examination of emotions and how individuals deal with death. It's been a while since I last watched a film that really looked at grief, rather than revenge, which this film definitely covers, but isn't the main focus of the entire film. McDonagh manages to balance out this grief with some of his left-field humor, which made the film a blast to watch, as well as really think about. The characters, as per usual with a McDonagh film, are extremely captivating. Whether it be Mildred or Dixon, the characters challenge what a traditional character should do. Mildred's character is a character that you want to root for, but because of her personality, it's hard to love her, but it's easy to understand her. Dixon is a character that is extremely hard to love, especially with his racist views and extreme views of law enforcement, but in the end, is the character that you want to root for, even with his terrible flaws. These two characters were very interesting to watch and see how they end up turning out, keeping you on your toes throughout the entire film. Per usual for a McDonagh film, this has a stunning cast. Frances McDormand is the shining star here, with a role that seems to have been written just for her, a role that only she would be able to play. McDormand is such a versatile actress, but this role feels like it fits right in with who she is, and it really shines through. Sam Rockwell is another standout, especially his scenes later in the film. Harrelson, with his little screentime, still managed to pack in a punch and was in one of his best roles that I've seen as of recent. Lucas Hedges also is a standout, and it seems like he's getting some fantastic roles lately, first Manchester By the Sea then Lady Bird and now here with Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Martin McDonagh is a director that I am constantly wanting more work from, since every film he's done has absolutely blown me away. He manages to balance comedy with darkness, here being the pinnacle of how to balance them. It's a black comedy, which many people going in probably aren't going to expect, but once people can get over that, it's an interesting and captivating look into grief and human emotion. Martin McDonagh has done it again and has directed one of the year's best films, and definitely is one of his best of his career.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Ni film bagus banget njir, slow Pace tapi tiba-tiba udah abis aja karena saking serunya. Surat Will buat Dixon bener-bener ngedevelop kepribadian Dixon. Gw gak nyangka aja karakter kayak Dixon ini bisa berubah dan menjadi salah satu peran inti di film ini. Dan yap Sam Rockwell memang pantes menangin ni piala oscar.
